The Licensed Occupational Therapist will work in a school based setting with children ages 5-21 and provide occupational therapy and assessment.
To assess and treat the people we support regarding Occupational Therapy areas in order to promote growth and independence. To assess and treat (if needed) individual activities of daily living skills performance as well as sensory integration abilities and maximize overall functional independence in that person’s environment. To assess individual fine motor, sensory and daily living skills, and develop/ implement appropriate treatment plans based on above listed needs. Also provide oversight to Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant(s) (COTAs) as assigned by the Occupational Therapy Department Supervisor. This oversight may include but not be limited to co-signatures and/ or observation of therapy sessions as well as any other “Under the Direction of Requirements” as outlined by Medicaid Regulations in addition to oversight regulations outlined by the New York State Office of the Professions.
- Bachelor or Masters of Science in Occupational Therapy.
- New York State License to practice occupational therapy and current registration.
- National Board Certification as an Occupational Therapist (NBCOT).
