Provides comprehensive, pragmatic and customer-focused HR guidance, support and advice/coordination consistent with FeedMore WNY policies, procedures, and practices of Human Resources to staff and management, and oversee the volunteer department. The HR function is guided by Federal, State, and other mandatory rules and regulations. Coordinates performance management process, manages all recruiting, assists with progressive discipline activities, handles compensation, payroll, benefits, employee assistance programs activities and seminars, training and development initiative, and various other human resource and volunteer-related projects. Manages employee handbook updates and reviews and administers personnel policies. Also provides HR administrative support daily and comprehensive HR services to managers and staff.

* Oversees the volunteer recruitment and retention efforts, including ensuring all volunteers are properly vetted, background checked, trained and placed, thanked and acknowledged and handled with respect and care.
* Identifies, reviews, and advises on tasks related to recruitment and leads the recruitment process, including job description development, scheduling and conducting interviews, etc.
* Ensures the execution of various pre-employment checks in a timely effective manner prior to positions being offered; prepares all new hire documents including offer letters and all paperwork necessary for personnel file.
* Orients all new staff in policies and procedures including review of employee handbook and organization’s benefits.
* Provides an advisory and consultancy service to staff and management on a range of human resources issues, including personnel benefits and compensation, grievance matters, conduct, organizational changes, employee relations and performance appraisal reports.
* Keeps up-to-date on information regarding developments in human resources practices, employment legislation and shares the knowledge with the team.
* Reviews organization’s policies and procedures, including employee handbook and updates as needed, especially when employment legislation changes.
* Preforms bi-weekly payroll processing and acts as initial degree of contact for inquiries and issues related to payroll.
* Develops, implements and maintains procedures and data for payroll and HR information systems, ensuring accurate recording of data.
* Handles compensation issues including job descriptions, reclassification, classification and advancement criteria.
* Maintains organization’s personnel records and human resources forms ensuring accuracy and confidentiality.
* Is primary liaison for benefits’ vendors, including but not limited to benefit brokers and retirement plan vendors.
* Develops and oversees training plan in key areas, and supporting staff in their training and development.
* Maintains focus on workforce diversity and related Feeding America reporting.
* Serves as a member of primary liaison to the Human Resource Committee and any other committees as needed.
* Supports safety, employee appreciation and wellness committees and any other internal committees as needed.
* Assists with other duties and projects as requested.

* Bachelor’s degree in Human Resource, Business or related field, plus 10 years of progressive experience in Human Resources
* Experience in recruiting and employee relations required; with additional experience in compensation and benefits preferred
* Sound knowledge of Human Resources policies and practices
* Knowledge of management, supervisory, leadership methods and principles
* Knowledge of organization and operating policies and procedures
* Knowledge of techniques of recruiting, interviewing and selecting applicants for employment.
* Able to interpret employment legislation, policies and agreements.
* Excellent oral and written communication skills
* Excellent computer software and hardware applications knowledge
* Able to work independently on a broad variety of projects and also be effective in a team environment
* Able to exercise effective judgement, sensitivity, confidentially, and creativity to changing needs and situations
* Able to deliver effective results, meet tight deadlines and targets
* Strong decision –making skills; strong analytical and problem solving skills as well as business acumen
* Proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, etc.) with previous experience in payroll and benefits systems preferred.
* Ability and knowledge to be a successful change agent
* Strong level of influence and negotiations skills
* Strong project management, time management and leadership skills
* Current and valid driver’s license and access to an automobile
* Must be capable of lifting a minimum of 35 lbs.
