The CNC Machinist will perform a complete range of operations on a CNC lathe with milling capabilities on all types of materials.
The incumbent will perform set-ups and run parts on a CNC lathe with milling capabilities to close tolerances, fine finishes, and complex geometry.
The incumbent is responsible for the inspection of all work performed, setting up or adjusting gaging equipment, detecting unusual conditions, deviate parts; and when needed recognizing errors in blueprints and operation sheets.
The Machinist must have a good knowledge of G-codes, speeds, and feeds for programming on various materials. At all times must maintain an SDG high standard of quality.
This position works in a team environment such that strong communication, interpersonal, and team building skills are essential.
Qualified candidates must be a self-starter, Team member & able to work with minimal supervision & engineering support.
There is an expectation for this position to occasionally assist on process improvement and projects teams.
The goal of this position would be to be mentored by senior personnel in the area to eventually qualify for available Development Machinist positions.
Interpret complex drawings, sketches and operation sheets.
With a high degree of accuracy perform difficult set-ups.
Set-up and run CNC equipment with minimal supervision or guidance. This may include editing and creating simple programs associated with CNC equipment.
Effective use of technical math including geometry and trigonometry.
Ability to run several different types of lathe machines.
Ability to effectively navigate web-based computer applications, Moog Business Systems, and database programs.

High School diploma or GED required. Machining trade school is a plus.
Over 1-year Machinist experience which must include at least 1 year as Lathe Machinist
Must be able to demonstrate a high level of comfort using various measuring equipment such as Micrometers, Calipers, and Dial Bore Gauges.
Demonstrated ability to read blueprints and interpret written work instructions.
Must have the hand-eye coordination to be able to deburr intricate parts.
