Substitute Special Education Teacher in Tonawanda, NY

Salary Range: $170-$185/day

Short Term Substitute Teacher, Special Education 0426-0025

Erie 1 BOCES seeks a Special Education Short-Term Substitute Teacher for the remainder of the school year to work at the Northtowns Academy in the Town of Tonawanda. The Special Education Short-Term Substitute Teacher will assume the role of classroom teacher, provide instruction, classroom management and work with assigned staff to support special needs students.

* Assesses students, both informally and formally, in order to provide an individualized classroom program.
* Designs plans and appropriate activities to reach individual pupil IE.P.'s.
* Provides an individualized education program for students with disabilities consisting with New York State Common Core Learning Standards and the program's goals and requirements.
* Establishes a classroom environment that provides for the student's social/emotional and behavioral needs as well as academic needs including specific systems of motivation to students.
* Assists and counsels’ students in making realistic assessments of their abilities in establishing educational and/or career goals.
* Keeps attendance records and other reports/records pertinent to the program.

Hours:
7:15 AM - 2:45 PM

Job Qualifications
* Must hold a valid NYS Teaching Certification in Students w/Disabilities
* Experience in classroom and behavior management preferred; however, newly certified teachers are strongly encouraged to apply
