Structural Steel Detailer in Grand Island, NY

Salary Range: $50k - $80k (depending on experience)

AEP Manufacturing Administrative Services, LLC has an exciting opportunity for an experienced and enthusiastic Structural Steel Detailer to join our team within our Turnkey Processing Solutions, LLC subsidiary. This in-person position reports directly to the Detailing Manager located in our office in Grand Island, NY. The successful candidate must have working knowledge of industrial structural design and manufacturing/fabrication.


The Structural Steel Detailer is responsible for the complete design and coordination of the structural support steel from conceptual design to release for fabrication. Using best practice in engineering and applicable design standards they will prepare detailed fabrication drawings to meet the customers specifications. Coordination with the design team, strategic partners, customers, project management, construction management and the fabrication and manufacturing arms of the company is essential in order meet project objectives.

RESPONSIBILITIES
· The Structural Steel Detailer is primarily responsible for creating fabrication documents from conceptual drawings and models.
· Work as an individual/joint contributor on specially assigned projects.
· Develop conceptual designs for preliminary budgeting and sales presentations.
· Design tasks will include model building based on design documents, detailed design, submittal review, design meetings, coordination of checking and release of detail drawings to fabrication.
· Coordinate all support activities required to complete all design/detailing efforts and quality assurance process.

REQUIREMENTS
· 2 to 5 years of structural steel detailing experience.
· Bachelor’s or associate degree in drafting or engineering technology; OR equivalent architectural, structural, civil, or similar industry experience.
· Proficient in Microsoft Office, specifically Word, Excel, and Outlook.
· Working knowledge in AISC, ASME, CEMA, ASTM, MSHA and other applicable codes.
· Experience with mining material handling/conveyors a plus.
· Experience with SDS/2 preferred or similar steel detailing software. Autodesk suite experience a plus (AutoCAD, Inventor, Vault, etc.).
