Salary Range: $35.00-$42.00/hr

The Stationary Engineer with EPA Certification is responsible for the operation and maintenance of the central Utility Plant Systems. Systems include the BAS (Building Automated System); chillers; boilers; RTU’s; AC systems; Electrical Distribution System, including Emergency Generators; and all their associated sub-systems. This role assists the Lead Engineer in guiding the Stationary Engineers.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Maintains safe, efficient operation of building systems and installs/repairs equipment according to work orders assigned via the electronic work order system.
2. Ensures proper operation and working order of centrifugal chillers, boilers, emergency generators, machinery, pumps, HVAC equipment and other building mechanical equipment.
3. Observes and interprets the BAS and take appropriate corrective actions to maintain building systems.
4. Monitors testing and data for Boiler Chemical Treatment System.
5. Tests boiler water quality and takes necessary corrective action, such as adding chemicals to prevent corrosion and harmful deposits.
6. Monitors, documents and responds to work orders in eMaintenance system.
7. Maintains daily logs of operation, maintenance, and safety activities, including test results, instrument readings, and details of equipment malfunctions and maintenance work.
8. Provides guidance, training and feedback to Stationary Engineers on tasks.
9. Responds to HVAC situations during and after hours for the purpose of resolving immediate concerns.
10. Enters data and information into work order system in a timely and accurate manner.
11. Completes all regulatory paperwork correctly.
12. Works positively and cooperatively as a member of the Facilities team.
13. Demonstrates collaboration with internal, cross functional teams and internal/external customers.
14. Adheres to the guiding values and beliefs of the organization, including respect and courtesy toward co-workers, vendors and those we serve.
15. Responsible for backing up the Lead Engineer.
16. Performs other duties as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
1. Able to troubleshoot, prioritize and problem solve issues in a timely manner.
2. Knowledge of and proficiency in:
a. Handling refrigerant and following EPA guidelines for recovery and disposal.
b. Complex electrical and mechanical building equipment.
c. Heat pumps, boilers, chillers, cooling towers, AHU’s, air compressors, heat exchangers, exhaust systems VAV pneumatic controls.
d. Working with and troubleshooting complex electrical and mechanical building equipment.
3. Understands, installs and maintains high pressure steam boilers.
4. Ability to work with steam boilers, steam distribution systems and chemical treatment, testing and analysis.
5. Able to adhere to safe working practices and handle hazardous materials.
6. Ability to troubleshoot and make repairs, install and perform preventative maintenance on systems.
7. Able to work independently or as a team member to accomplish work.
8. Able to accomplish job assignments in an organized, efficient, quality manner.
9. Takes initiative and is responsive to potential issues and needs.
10. Able to complete work in an organized manner.
11. Interacts with others with respect, demonstrates positive interpersonal and customer service skills.
12. Works positively and cooperatively as a member of the Facilities team.
13. Computer skills with ability to write and respond to emails in Microsoft Outlook, enter data and receipts into eMaintenance work order system via smart phone or computer.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
1. Knowledge of servicing HVAC equipment including boilers, furnaces, AHUs, condensers required.
2. Knowledge of handling refrigerant and following EPA guidelines for recovery and disposal required.
3. High School diploma or equivalency required.
4. Valid City of Buffalo Stationary Engineer License 1st or 2nd Class; or equivalent required.
5. Valid driver’s license required.
6. Five years of experience as a Stationary Engineer preferred, ten years preferred working with HP steam boiler systems and associated equipment.
7. Experience working with complex electrical and mechanical building equipment required.
8. Experience working with chillers, cooling towers, AHU’s, air compressors, heat exchangers, exhaust systems, VAV pneumatic controls, etc.
9. Five years’ required experience with steam boilers, steam distribution systems and chemical treatment, testing and analysis.
10. Training or experience in Tridium building automated systems (BAS) required.
11. Basic computer skills to write and respond to emails in Outlook, enter data and receipts into work order system via smart phone, iPad, or computer required.
12. EPA certification is required.
13. Experience with heat pumps and related equipment required.
14. Experience working with and troubleshooting electrical and mechanical building equipment preferred.
15. Experience handling refrigerant and following EPA guidelines for recovery and disposal required.

Pay range: $35.00-$42.00 per hour, based on experience
