Medaille College is accepting applications for the position of H.E.O.P. Director. The director is responsible for developing and implementing the vision, goals, and strategic priorities for Medaille’s Arthur O. Eve Higher Education Opportunity Program (HEOP) to foster the academic achievement, retention, graduation, and world-readiness of students enrolled in this opportunity program. The director will direct, coordinate, evaluate, and administer the academic and operational activities of the program, especially the development of counseling and academic support and enrichment services designed to foster student growth and success.

Responsibilities include providing productive and cooperative leadership in working with deans, directors, and faculty in support of program-students’ academic needs and concerns; formulating grant proposals to state and other agencies and serving as the primary liaison with those agencies; communicating program objectives to faculty and administrators; recruiting students who meet the necessary guidelines in order to participate in the HEOP program; providing academic, personal, and financial counseling and advising to HEOP students; and preparing and implementing the program's annual reports and budgets. The director will have primary responsibility for ensuring that the HEOP program is in compliance with specifications of the state HEOP grant and its approved budget guidelines.

This position requires a Master’s Degree in counseling, student personnel administration, education, or related area in higher education and minimum of five years’ experience in higher education administration. Experience working with a diverse, non-traditional student population and with students who are educationally underserved and economically disadvantaged. Evidence of responsibility for program development, grant management, and reporting. Demonstrated leadership skills working with various campus and community stakeholders, including faculty, administrative colleagues, and professional organizations, and the ability to supervise a large, diverse staff.
Comprehensive knowledge of University policies and New York State guidelines regarding the HEOP program.
