Salary Range: $25.00 - $32.00 per hour

The Compliance Specialist supports the company’s compliance program by administering compliance related activities, assisting with the development and revision of policies, reviewing and summarizing regulatory guidance, educating employees, and assisting in the investigation of compliance violations.
TASKS:
• Perform ongoing compliance and privacy monitoring activities as needed.
• May participate and attend company Compliance Committee.
• Assist with Model of Care review in preparation of submission.
• As requested, assist with drafting and revising policies related to the company’s compliance program.
• Annual review and updates to the Company’s Compliance plan and related policies at the discretion of the Compliance Manager.
• Review operating and compliance procedures and documentation, implement modifications as needed, and provide necessary training to staff when requested.
• Develop, implement and manage systems to update, revise, track, keep current operating procedures and other policies.
• Ability to critically think and review and analyze new laws and regulations and report to leadership for implementation.
• Contract Management: Manage and maintain all company contracts.
• Proof and edit all company documents to ensure regulatory compliance.
• Provide administrative support to the company for annual review and related updates to the company’s policies as they relate to company regulatory compliance as assigned.
• May assist with tracking and recording requests for access to health information and release of related records at the discretion of the Director of Quality and Compliance.
• Under the direction of the Director of Quality and Compliance, may assist with and coordinate any internal investigation as necessary and required at the direction of the Chief Operating Officer and/or Chief Executive Officer.
• May assist with maintaining updated Policies and Procedures related to HIPAA, privacy protection, and corporate compliance and ensure internal stakeholders stay current with that information.
• May assist with initial and ongoing Privacy, HIPAA and corporate compliance staff training.
• May assist with oversight of Privacy, HIPAA and corporate compliance documentation as assigned.
• May initiate, facilitate and promote activities to foster information privacy and compliance awareness within the organization and related entities.
• Other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION: Minimum Associate’s degree, Bachelor’s degree preferred, and three years of related experience in a medical group or health plan preferred
EXPERIENCE/ABILITIES:
• Excellent writing skills and exceptional knowledge of the English language including rules of composition and grammar.
• Knowledge of administrative procedures and relevant systems including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Visio).
• Experience in a documented HIPAA compliance role preferred.
• Strong oral communication skills and the ability to interact with internal and external staff in a professional and timely manner.
• Experience researching, analyzing, and compiling data to prepare reports, manuals, and policy documents.
• Ability to work within timeframes, meet aggressive deadlines, prioritize multiple projects, and modify schedule as needed.
• Familiarity with Medicare regulations and practices in addition to general health care terminology.
• Ability to maintain upmost confidentiality with restricted and secure company/provider communications, employee files, and members’ private health information.
• Demonstrated skills in collaboration, teamwork, and problem-solving to achieve goals.
• A high level of integrity and trust.
• Knowledge of HIPAA, state and federal guidelines on privacy, transactions and security.
• Familiarity with health care relevant legislation and standards for the protection of health information privacy.
• Ability to multitask at times with high demand for competing priorities.
