Erie 1 BOCES seeks Certified Teaching Assistants to support our growing K-8 Special Education School Community at Northtowns Academy located at 333 Dexter Terrace, Tonawanda NY 14150. Experience is preferred, but newly certified Teaching Assistants are encouraged to apply. Applicants should have a positive outlook, strong work ethic and perform well in a team. Duty expectations include providing support to students, managing classroom functions and delivering instruction as needed. Kind and caring individuals are encouraged to apply.

Job Responsibilities:
The Teaching Assistant provides direct instructional services to students under the general supervision of a certified teacher. A Teaching Assistant supports the teacher by helping to supervise activities in the classroom, working with students on an individual, small group or whole class basis. Teaching Assistants may be assigned additional responsibilities, such as teaching classes on their own, covering planned absences and allowing teachers time for meetings and conferences. They may also manage other support staff and assist with recording student grades, data and reporting on student progress. Duties of this job require a knowledge of child development and interpersonal skills to coordinate instruction with the primary teachers as well as communicate with parents.

* Valid NYS Teaching Assistant Certification - Level I, II, III, Initial TA, Pre-Professional TA, or Professional TA
