Position Summary:
To support the efforts of the Program Manager to create and implement appropriate and engaging activities for the Just for Kids Before and After School Program participants in a safe, supervised, structured environment, in alignment with OCFS regulations. Coordinate with the Program Manager to determine responsibility for administrative tasks. Act as a point person for site needs during Program Manager’s absence.
Responsibilities Include:
1. Program Development
a. Plan and implement age-appropriate daily activities; model appropriate activities to staff as needed.
b. Maintain general housekeeping of all program areas including program spaces and storage areas.
c. Support communication of scheduled spaces for groups of children based on size, activity and maintaining ratios.
d. Provide support and assistance to enrichment curriculum related tasks.
e. Assist in marketing efforts while at site to promote the Just for Kids program and to make continued efforts to grow and develop the program within the school and in the community.
2. Staff Management
a. Provide direct competent supervision of children and staff at all times.
b. Create and assist with distributing regular staff communication to include upcoming week’s activities, schedule changes, special guests, etc.
c. Ensure a positive work environment for staff.
3. Recordkeeping
a. Uphold confidentiality of information with regard to children and families, other staff, District operations, and the Just for Kids program at large.
b. Daily communication with participating families, staff and school personnel.
c. Assist to maintain accurate record keeping (ie. attendance records, injury reports, etc.)
• Supervise accurate record keeping procedures by staff.
• Follow protocol for the documentation of injuries, illness and the administration of medication.
• Ensure the completion of all state and federal required documentation.
d. Ensure accurate record keeping by parents.
4. Training
a. Obtain 15 hours within first six months and 30 hours every two years.
b. Assist with planning and facilitating staff meetings.
c. Need to maintain current CPR and First Aid Certifications
5. Any other duties specified by the Program Manager and Just for Kids School Age Program administration
Experience And Education: Must be 18 years of age or older. Education and/or experience per NYS OCFS regulations. Must hold current CPR and First Aid certifications.
Requirements:
• Before employees are eligible to start working, they must be cleared through NYS OCFS. This includes the completion of several background checks, medical clearance, and fingerprinting.
• Regular and predictable attendance
Physical Requirements: This position is very active and requires walking, bending, kneeling, running, twisting and squatting. This position includes prolonged periods of standing and frequent bending. Generally, must be able to lift up to 10 pounds at a time.
