Production Equip Operator in Dunkirk, NY

Salary Range: $20.00 To $22.50 Hourly

Universal Stainless & Alloy Products, Inc., established in 1994, has an opening at their Dunkirk, NY facility. We produce semi-finished and finished specialty steel long products and plate including stainless steel, tool steel, bearing steel, gear steel, and aircraft quality low alloy steels for use in a variety of industries.

Production Equip Operator

Shift: 1st, 2nd, or 3rd (Shift Assignment Based on Seniority & Business Need)
Status: Full-Time

Position Overview
Production Workers support daily steel manufacturing operations while maintaining high safety and quality standards. This is a physically active role in a heavy industrial environment requiring teamwork, attention to detail, and adherence to safety procedures.

Key Responsibilities:
- Operate steel production equipment and machinery safely and efficiently
- Load, unload, and transport steel materials (coils, bars, sheets, structural components)
- Perform quality inspections using measuring devices and tools
- Follow production schedules, work instructions, and safety procedures
- Assist with machine setup, changeovers, and basic preventative maintenance
- Maintain a clean and organized work area
- Work collaboratively with team members and supervisors to meet daily production goals
- Collaborate with all levels on 5S projects throughout the plant

Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED preferred
- Prior manufacturing or industrial experience preferred, but not required
- Willingness to complete company-paid training programs
- Strong work ethic and commitment to workplace safety
- Ability to work assigned shifts, overtime, and weekends as needed

Physical Requirements:
- Lift up to 50 lbs regularly
- Stand and move for extended periods

Compensation
The starting hourly wage range for this position is:
$20 - $22.50 per hour, based on placement within the union wage scale.

Employees progress through a structured wage schedule outlined in the collective bargaining agreement. Pay increases are tied to training completion and job level.
Shift Differentials: available for 2nd and 3rd shift
Additional earnings opportunities include overtime pay in accordance with state law.
