SUMMARY – The Center Director is solely responsible for the management and supervision of the center-based activities and day-to-day operations. Management functions must support the overall goal of school readiness for children enrolled in Head Start Academies, as outlined in the Head Start Act and HHS Roadmap to Excellence. Maintain compliance with Head Start Program Performance Standards and applicable child care standards.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
* Work with Administrator and Human Resources Department to recruit, hire and train all center staff.
* Manage performance of all center staff. This includes regular feedback on work performance, written annual evaluations of performance, appropriate use of disciplinary procedures and the development and monitoring of performance improvement plans as necessary.
* Schedule staff in order to appropriately meet the needs of children in the center and in accordance with the Head Start Performance Standards and licensing requirements. At centers where collaborations exist, coordinate schedules of collaborative partners with Head Start staff schedules to optimize both the children’s educational experiences and collaborative benefits.

QUALIFICATIONS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform essential duties satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: Bachelor’s degree with a major in Early Childhood Education or Child Development. Minimum of three (3) years teaching, supervisory and administrative experience in a child development center or Head Start with increasing levels of job responsibility.
