Purchases product raw materials and components from domestic or foreign sources that are required for the manufacture of the product. May also arrange the purchase of tooling, maintenance and building supplies, and office supplies. Plans for the coordinated purchase of vendor items critical to product manufacture by scheduling timely shipment through available vendors. Investigates availability, quality, and best pricing available from suppliers. Expedites, when necessary, materials from suppliers to insure timely delivery. Supports efforts of the company to maximize best value based on company procurement criteria.
Esential Duties and Responsibilities:
• Purchases materials required for manufacturing, product development, or field service on a daily basis through distributors and vendor sales representatives.
• Contacts vendors/suppliers by telephone, computer, or via personal visit to arrange for and verify on-time shipment by the promised shipping date of all materials ordered.
• Prepares formal quotations for vendor distribution and may supply specific specifications and/or requirements for vendor/supplier information.
• Authorizes payment of invoices and the return of merchandise found unacceptable upon receipt.
• Reviews production schedules and related information and confers with department supervisors to determine materials requirements to identify overdue materials and to track materials.
• Coordinates the purchase of tools and materials requested by employees and required in the performance of their jobs within manufacturing.
• Expedites overdue orders to ensure on-time shipments of our machine and parts orders.
• Works within the purchasing team, and Engineering, on cost saving ideas to completion.
• Compiles and maintains manual or computerized records such as material inventory or sales-related consignment inventory, and the status and location of such materials.
• Arrange for repair and/or assembly of material or part and completes RMA process.
Education and/or Experience:
• Bachelor's degree (B. S.) or 2-5 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Self-starter
• Good written and verbal communication skills
• Good customer service
• Microsoft Word and Excel knowledge
• Epicor MRP system knowledge a plus
