Accounting Specialist in Blasdell, NY1421

Salary Range: $62,000-$70,000

The Accounting Specialist will analyze information, maintain complete and accurate records, assist with routine accounting duties (AR/AP), payroll activities and employee benefits. You will be required to use Microsoft Office, Sage Contractor bookkeeping software, and other construction-based systems. You should also be a skilled researcher and possess strong communication and computer skills. To succeed as an accounting specialist, you should be committed to providing efficient, reliable support to company officers, other departments, and external parties. You should be trustworthy, thorough, and courteous with excellent time management skills.

Critical Responsibilities:
• Using documents to verify, record, and process transactions.
• Payroll Processing including certified payroll reports for municipal contracts. Organize employee weekly hours.
• Maintaining accurate and complete records, including ledgers, journals, invoices, receipts, and information related to supplies and inventory.
• Assisting the Controller in daily, monthly, and annual activities, including accounts receivable and accounts payable activity.
• Speaking with vendors and suppliers to ensure charges are accurate and that payments are received in a timely manner.
• Assist with general company management activities.
• Participating in ongoing education opportunities to learn about industry trends and developments, current financial legislation, and company policies and procedures.

Requirements:
• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field.
• Understanding of accounting principles and current financial legislation.
• Exceptional time management, communication, and problem-solving skills.
• Strong math and research skills.
• Basic computer skills with knowledge of bookkeeping software.
• Organized and detail oriented.
• Ability to accurately and efficiently analyze data.

$62,000-$70,000 based on experience
